Welcome Week

august-20,-2011_jmk8007-x2.jpgWhat is it and why is it important?

Welcome Week is a five-day program in August immediately before you begin classes. This time is designed to facilitate your ability to explore your passions and cultivate your ideas; embrace everything the Belmont community has to offer; engage this place by seizing opportunities in and out of the classroom; and continue to tell the story of the “First-Year Experience.”

When you arrive in the fall, you will be placed in a group of other new students and paired with an upperclassman known as a Tower Team (TT) Leader. Your TT Leader has been trained to guide you through Welcome Week and the remainder of your first year. The TT Leader community awaits your arrival and is excited to accompany you as you embark on this new journey at Belmont.

Important Historic Events that Take Place

The President and Board of Trustees host a welcome for all new students and their families. During this event, you'll enjoy a meal, music from Belmont student bands and the kick-off to Becoming Belmont for new students.

The spirit of Belmont comes together to "insure Belmont College of days more glorious and opportunities more abundant" during a candlelight ceremony the evening before classes begin. (Quoted from the Founder's Day address by Chancellor, Dr. Herbert C. Gabhart, March 11, 1963)

Parent Involvement

We invite all parents and family members to join us for Saturday and Sunday morning events. We ask that parents and family members plan their travel home by 1:00pm on Sunday as students will begin attending required, student-only events. As with Summer Orientation, we do not provide parent and family accommodations so you will need to secure a weekend's stay at a nearby hotel if traveling from out of town.
