Mission Statement

User Services strives to provide knowledgeable, responsive, integrated, and creative desktop computing solutions through clear concise communication and service, thus instilling customer confidence and satisfaction from the Belmont community.

Services for the campus

User Services provides desktop support to Belmont faculty, staff and student lab computers.   User Services configures and repairs PCs that communicate though the University network, and provides software to the end user community through Microsoft’s volume-purchase software licenses agreements.   We strive to provide excellent customer service to the Belmont faculty and staff as they serve the needs of the students attending the university. The User Services technical staff performs troubleshooting and repair on campus PCs and printers and offers Microsoft software support and training.   The User Services purchasing agent facilitates purchasing PCs, printers, scanners, and software purchases for the university.    As part of the university’s annual computer rotation cycle, we will replace out of warranty computers with new computers on a revolving four year cycle.  This rotation will take place on May 14, 15, and 16 2007.

Update on Microsoft Office 2007 and Outlook Adoption

User Services supports Microsoft Office and Netscape email.  In June 2007 Belmont University will begin the process of upgrading from Microsoft Office 2003 to Microsoft Office 2007.  We will also begin the email migration from Netscape email to Outlook 2007. The computer proficiency administrator/software trainer will provide multiple training sessions for each of these software products for the Belmont community.   The training schedule for each of these new products will be posted on the university’s Human Resources website in the coming weeks.  It is our recommendation that each faculty and staff member avail themselves of these training opportunities which will begin in late May 2007 and continue on throughout the fall 2007 semester.  These new products are very different from previous versions and will require a learning curve for many end users.
