Defending Our Den

Belmont University’s Fall 2020 Return to Campus Plan

When 2020 began, few people anticipated a worldwide pandemic would literally change every aspect of our lives in a matter of months. The changes we encountered were sudden and extensive. But the Belmont community rose to the challenge, completing coursework remotely and maintaining connections through a variety of virtual events. Once again you proved what a special place Belmont is, even when we are not in that “place” together.

Recognizing many students' intense desire to re-engage as fully as possible in the complete Belmont experience, our faculty, staff and administrators worked diligently toward making it possible for those students to return safely to campus for the Fall 2020 semester. Our teams’ thoughtful and detailed analysis has been informed by consultations with leading healthcare companies and experts in our region. This website reflects their good work to date, but it also represents an ongoing, adjustable playbook—one that will allow us to regain as much normalcy as possible while also doing our part to limit the spread and impact of COVID-19. As data indicates, we will be nimble to respond.

These strategies will require the commitment and contributions of every member of the Belmont community as together we seek to ensure Belmont is one of the safest “small towns” in the country.
