Train With Us

Welcome and thank you for your interest in graduate clinical training with Belmont University Counseling Services!

The training program at BUCS prepares graduate students for the full spectrum of clinical acuity in a University setting. We focus primarily on brief solution-focused therapy, crisis management, and stabilization. Training in this fast-paced environment will prepare clinicians to be generalists, as there is an opportunity to work with a diversity of presenting issues.

This training opportunity is open to graduate students in counseling, social work, and marriage and family programs. Doctoral psychology students may also apply at the practicum level. At least one year of supervised clinical training is highly recommended prior to applying.

Interns and practicum students are expected to spend three days a week (approximately 24 hours) at BUCS during the academic year from mid-August to May.

A typical intern training experience will include:

  • Short-term solution-focused therapy
  • Intake / triage coverage
  • Group therapy facilitation
  • Outreach educational programming
  • Weekly individual supervision
  • Monthly group intern meetings

Please send your CV/Resume, cover letter and any questions you may have about our program to counseling@belmont.edu. For our selection process, applications will be accepted January 1st until February 15th. We will contact qualified applicants for an interview, and intern selection will be completed by mid-March.

Thank you again for your interest in our program. We look forward to hearing from you!
