Master of Arts in Teaching Internship Pathway

In one year, you can achieve:

  • Full teaching licensure
  • A Master of Arts in Teaching
  • One full year of teaching experience

Belmont’s Intern Program is an accelerated, full time program that allows you to spend a full year in the classroom with an experienced mentor teacher while completing graduate coursework that integrates your experiences in the classroom. The internship portion of the program begins the fall of every year. Four core courses must be completed prior to starting the internship.

From Our Students:

Mary Beth Carroll“I did my homework in choosing the best MAT program for my needs, and having chosen Belmont, I couldn't be happier with my preparation for the classroom.  At Belmont, I had excellent professors who were able to share both theory and practice, having been in the classroom themselves.  I was able to participate in the internship program that placed me with classroom teachers for an entire year, allowing me to gain valuable firsthand experience.  Additionally, the opportunity to meet regularly with my fellow interns in order to practice teaching strategies and discuss both our education coursework and hands-on classroom experiences allowed for deeper understanding of the modern classroom and the differentiated instruction we are expected to provide in our classrooms as teachers.  I am proud of my experiences at Belmont, and know that my coursework and internship teaching experience prepared me to step into the demands of today's classroom.  Thank you Belmont for making a huge difference in my life!”
