Steve LasleySteve Lasley, Belmont’s vice president for finance and operations, recently announced his retirement after 26 years of service to the University, effective May 31, 2024. His career is marked by major accolades, including being named the Nashville Business Journal’s inaugural CFO of the Year for non-profit organizations.

As the vice president for finance and operations, Lasley oversees a variety of administrative and facility areas across campus, providing leadership and oversight for finance and accounting, human recourses, facilities management and construction.

“I am so grateful for Steve’s leadership and the way he has shepherded our organization and its resources over the last 26 years,” said University President Dr. Greg Jones. “Much of what we celebrate today can be attributed to Steve and his commitment to Belmont.”

Since joining Belmont in 1998, Lasley has led the institution through a period of incredible growth and achievement. Under his financial stewardship, the University has completed 33 major building and renovation projects totaling over $1.2 billion. Additionally, Belmont's annual budget has increased from $50 million to over $434 million, and the University’s endowment investments have grown from $29 million to $350 million.

Lasley will remain closely involved with the University, as he has been appointed to serve as special assistant to the President, focusing on construction, campus master planning and other key priorities, effective June 1, 2024.

A national search for Lasley’s replacement is currently underway and will be led by Executive Vice President for Administration and Chief of Staff Dr. Susan West.
