Belmont University Earns Prestigious VETS Campus Designation and Gains Recognition in 2023 Military Times Best for Vets: Colleges Rankings

Announcements come during the celebration of Veterans Week 2023

Belmont University announces its dual accomplishments: the designation as a Veteran Education Transition Support (VETS) Campus by the state of Tennessee and inclusion in the 2023 Military Times Best for Vets: Colleges national rankings. These remarkable achievements underscore Belmont's unwavering commitment to supporting student veterans and their families while also attesting to its academic excellence.

The VETS Campus program, established by state law in 2014, seeks to recognize higher education institutions that prioritize resources for veterans' successful transition from military service to enrolling in college. Belmont University is proud to be one of the few institutions in the state to receive this certification (one of only six private four-year universities in Tennessee, among a group of 16 including both four-year public and private institutions, and part of a broader collective of 33 encompassing TCAT, community colleges and four-year public and private universities across Tennessee).

"We are deeply honored to receive this designation from the state of Tennessee, especially as we commemorate Veterans Week 2023,” said Dr. Greg Jones, President of Belmont University. “At Belmont, we highly value the invaluable contributions of our veterans and remain steadfast in our commitment to facilitating their educational pursuits, including partnering with them to maximize their GI Bill® education benefits.”

Additionally, Belmont University has for the first time secured a position in the 2023 Military Times Best for Vets: Colleges rankings, a comprehensive and highly respected annual ranking of schools for military service members and veterans.

"Belmont's national ranking and designation as a VETS Campus reflect our university’s unwavering commitment to serving those who have served our country,” said Dr. Jim McIntyre, Dean of the College of Education and Assistant Provost for Academic Excellence. “We are proud to be acknowledged for our dedication to supporting veterans and their families as they embark on their educational journeys. These recognitions align with Belmont's core values, and we look forward to continuing our mission of providing a welcoming and empowering environment for our veteran and military-affiliated students."

With over 330 active duty, veteran and military-affiliated students enrolled, Belmont has consistently demonstrated its dedication to fostering a supportive atmosphere for student veterans and their families and offers a wide range of undergraduate, graduate and professional programs to help veterans transition into the civilian workforce.
