A Massey cluster thrives at HealthTrust Performance Group in Nashville, TN

A group of Jack C. Massey College of Business students and alumni at HealthTrust Performance Group in Nashville represents the broad spectrum of educational pathways offered and the opportunities available through Massey’s premiere business programs. Kameron Ziesig Sherrill (‘19) and Zachary Lilly (‘21) are Business Systems & Analytics graduates, Daniel Kaylor (‘22) is a Professional MBA graduate, Nathan Woods is a double alum (Management Information Systems ‘11 and Healthcare MBA ‘16) and Jake Reaves is currently pursuing a Healthcare MBA.

A Belmont education is not the only connection between the five. They are all members of the Account Management team at HealthTrust Performance Group, a Nashville-based performance improvement company that offers supply chain, workforce and clinical integration services to more than 1600 healthcare providers.

Nashville’s job market is among the top markets in the nation and the Massey College of Business creates numerous opportunities for students to get exposure through networking events, in-class presentations, alumni mentorship and career management resources. It has become commonplace for these introductions to lead to employment, a highly attractive benefit of the program.

“My career was directly impacted by Massey,” said Kaylor, a cost analyst at HealthTrust. “It is the reason I have my job today. My current bosses came to speak on supply chain in class. I connected with them after, and they told me there were positions open in their department. I applied, interviewed and got the job. Beyond networking, the knowledge gained helped me to jump into my job and hit the ground running."

Belmont has been a part of Woods’ life since he moved to Nashville in 2007. As a business student, he enjoyed learning about Jack C. Massey’s vision to better the Middle Tennessee community. “Jack Massey’s legacy lives on today through the college and I’m proud to be a part of it,” Woods said. “My favorite aspect now is actively being a part of the Massey College of Business as an adjunct professor and continuing his vision.” The HealthTrust senior director of strategic accounts is also a mentor to Massey student-athletes who are soon to enter the workforce.

Beyond receiving a competitive degree, graduates become a part of the Massey legacy and find lifelong belonging within a network of Belmont alumni.  Maintaining connections with the school is a shared characteristic of many Massey alumni, including the HealthTrust group.

“Not only did I get to be an undergrad Massey student for four years, but I have also been privileged to come back multiple times since graduating, attending job fairs, mixers and recruiting events as an employer,” said Lilly, a HealthTrust data analyst. “Getting to stay connected to the faculty, students and school has been nothing but great. I hope to be called a student again in the future – but this time within the Massey Graduate School, pursuing a Professional MBA.”

Two members of the Massey cluster have already found themselves back in the student role. Reaves is a strategic accounts director at HealthTrust and will graduate from Massey’s Healthcare MBA in 2024. Ziesig Sherrill, a HealthTrust senior account manager, will be a double alum upon completing the Professional MBA program.

While learning from world-class professors in a small class-size environment and leveraging the untapped potential of a thriving market makes the Massey College of Business attractive, connection and belonging sets a Massey education apart– connection to peers and faculty and belonging to a distinct community no matter where life goes after graduation.
