With five major universities, four professional sport franchises and a large variety of top-tier hospitals, clinics, and rehabilitation centers in the area, Belmont Exercise Science or Sport Administration majors can shape their future accordingly.

Often people will ask, “What is Exercise Science? Or "What can I do with an Exercise Science or Sport Administration degree?”  We’re glad you asked!  Exercise Science includes the knowledge of anatomy, biology, chemistry, physics and physiology as it applies to human movement and exercise. Students will be equipped for a number of careers following graduation, while many pursue related graduate degrees. Sport Administration is a dynamic field that encompasses everything from professional and collegiate athletics to facilities management and municipal recreation programs.

The Undergraduate Sport Administration Program, which offers both majors and minors in Sport Administration, prepares students for exciting careers in the sport industry such as:

The Department of Sport Science offers three minors for students to choose from:

  • Sport Medicine
  • Nutrition
  • Strength & Conditioning (Recognized by the NSCA)

Both Exercise Science and Strength & Conditioning Courses are designed to prepare students for top tier certifications listed below:

The Department of Sport Science is located in the Sport Science Center, which is building number 41 on the campus map. The department is also home to the graduate Master of Sport Administration program. Sport Science also provides courses to fulfill the wellness portion of the General Education requirements for all students.
