Scholarship and Awards Day
Each spring in April faculty and students gather to celebrate and acknowledge the academic achievements of the year. In 2011, this celebration takes place in the Massey Performing Arts Center on April 20 at 10 a.m.
This short program is packed with award presentations such as the Williams-Murray First Year Writing Awards, the Alfred Leland Crabb Awards, the Stacy Awalt Writing Awards, the Annette Sisson First Year Seminar Writing Award, the Lumos Travel Award and the University Leadership and Service Awards.
This year the program will also include the presentation of two prestigious faculty awards, the
Chaney Distinguished Professor Award and the Presidential Faculty Achievement Award.
FULL AWARDS LIST
At the heart of this program is a time set aside to join as a community and celebrate all the elements of the university scholarship experience -- learning, study, teaching, service and writing. As we approach all that mindfully, in community, what is a ceremony becomes a reflective celebration.
The honors address this year will be given by Lucyellen Dahlgren, Instructor of Nursing and 2010 recipient of the Chaney Distinguished Professor Award.
