THE GIG: Gallery of Iconic Guitars Open House

The Gallery of Iconic Guitars (GIG) at Belmont is Music City’s premier venue designed to celebrate some of the rarest and iconic guitars and stringed instruments ever known. The GIG features an intimate experience for visitors to view these prized instruments up-close, along with historically and technically in-depth information on each. It is our hope that these magnificent instruments and their stories serve to inspire legions of music enthusiasts from all generations.

The Belmont Mansion

All Weekend | $5 with Parent & Family Weekend Wristband 

Registered guests of Parents Weekend are welcome for self-guided tours of Belmont Mansion at a discounted rate. Tickets are $5. Children under 12 and Belmont Students (with ID) are free. Open at 10:00 a.m. Friday and Saturday; Sunday open at 11:00. Last guests are admitted at 3:30 pm.

Visit the Student-Run Businesses: House Of & Where the Well Things Are
Friday and Saturday 11am-6pm

House Of provides the Nashville community with a curated group of local designers and brands. The store opened in April 2016 and employs 15 students from a variety of majors who actively learn about brand management, marketing, sales, and supply chain management. Over 30 local designers are featured in the store and work with the students to learn more about pricing, promoting, and running a business.

Where the Well Things Are opened in August 2021 to serve as Nashville’s one-stop-shop for wellness. Focusing on wellness for your mind, body, and soul, the Belmont students who launched Well Things seek to provide the Nashville community with a fresh take on wellness. Whether you’re looking for healthy snacks, fitness gear, or eco-friendly products, Well Things has everything you need to stay healthy and mindful!

CreatiVets: Healing Through Art
This exhibition features visual artworks created in the CreatiVets program, offering opportunities for relief and healing for veterans. This exhibit raises public awareness about the challenges they face and how art can assist in addressing the psychological and emotional struggles that arise from combat-related trauma.

This exhibition features various ceramic works by Richard Casper, co-founder of CreatiVets. It captures the development of Casper's visual language that speaks directly to personal combat-related trauma.

This installation celebrates the Watkins College of Art by promoting student work from our student purchase award collection.

This exhibition celebrates the newly hired full-time faculty of the Watkins College of Art. Exhibitors include Dale Addy, Mandy Rogers Horton, Armon Means and Thomas Sturgill.

Janet Ayers Academic Center Atrium
Witness to Faith: The Biblical Art of Sadao Watanabe
An extension of programming offered by the Gabhart Chapel, this display of biblical narratives by Japanese artist Sadao Watanabe (1913-1996) are a translation of the artist's Christian faith within a Japanese setting.

Frederick Hart Studio Museum (located in the Lila D. Bunch Library)

The Frederick Hart Collection is not only a permanent museum and repository of sculptor Frederick Hart’s work located on Belmont University’s campus, but it is also a recreation of Hart’s home studio in Hume, Virginia. The Studio Museum offers an extensive presentation on Hart’s innovative use of clear acrylic resin, the medium Hart pioneered to cast figurative forms which he described as “sculpting with light,” in addition to multiple mediums from early maquettes to completed works by Hart. The Hart Studio Museum is the largest permanent collection of Hart’s work available for public viewing.

Parent Session #1: Making the Most of Your Student’s Study Abroad Experience |1:00-1:45pm
Parents play such an important part in helping a student determine when, where, and how to study abroad. Come meet with the Office of Study Abroad to learn more about Belmont’s study abroad offerings, the study abroad application process, and how to support your child throughout their study abroad experience.

Parent Session #2: Career & Professional Development | 2:00-2:45pm
This session will be focused on how parents can help their children find career success. Parents will receive an overview of career development at Belmont, meet the Career Development Team, and learn how they can support their college student.

Parent Session #3: Mental Health & Wellness with David Jaegar | 3:00-3:45pm
This session will focus on the mental health and wellness of students as they adjust to college life. David Jaegar will lead a discussion on trends we are seeing at Belmont, and how to best support your student.

Parent Session #4: Helping your Student Succeed & Flourish at Belmont | 4:00-4:45pm
Students succeed when we dedicate our support and resources to continuously improving their experiences in and out of the classroom. Please join the Student Success and Flourishing Team to discover ways we can support your student and hear more about opportunities and resources designed to help students flourish at Belmont University.

Belmont Concert Band & Wind Ensemble

The Belmont Concert Band and Wind Ensemble will present a concert of enjoyable selections to celebrate Parent and Family Weekend. Woodwind, brass, and percussion students will perform chamber music as well as traditional and contemporary works. The concert is free and open to the public. Vinyasa Yoga

Vinyasa Flow uses a specific sequence of postures that will teach students how to coordinate their breath to their movement. In Vinyasa yoga, participants can build strength, increase flexibility and establish stability within the body. Come practice in a fun and relaxing environment!

Indoor Cycle
9:30-10:30am | Fitness Center in Beaman Student Life Center
Indoor Cycle will challenge participants by training speed and resistance through climbing hills, pushing sprints, and more. Riders may experience choreography while on the bike. Get your heart pumping and lungs working while you increase your muscular and cardiovascular endurance!
