Pedestrian and Traffic Regulations

The speed limit on campus is 8 MPH.

  • Vehicles will be operated in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Campus streets are considered 'No Passing' zones.
  • Motorists must yield right of way to pedestrians on campus.
  • Vehicles must pull over, come to a complete stop, and yield right-of-way to all emergency vehicles with flashing lights.
  • Drivers must comply with the direction of officers providing traffic control.
  • The use of loud mufflers or other unusual noisemakers is prohibited.
  • Pedestrians shall use crosswalks.
  • No pedestrian shall suddenly leave the curb or other place of safety and walk or run into the path of a vehicle which is so close as to constitute an immediate hazard.
  • When traffic-control signals are not in place or not in operation, motorists shall yield the right-of-way to pedestrians within a crosswalk.
  • Where traffic-control signals are in place, pedestrians shall cross with the pedestrian crossing sign or traffic signal in absence of a crossing sign.
  • Pedestrians should not use cell phones when approaching intersections or crosswalks.
