Affiliate Regional Festival Presented by Yamaha

The Belmont University Regional Wind Band Festival is a Music for All affiliate event taking place in Nashville, Tennessee. Participation is open to all middle school, junior high, and high school bands from the multi-state region. The event will provide ensembles the opportunity to play in the beautiful McAfee Concert Hall in a non-competitive format. Ensembles will receive an 70-minute time slot on the performance stage to include a 10-minute warmup, a 30-minute performance, and a 30-minute clinic with one of the festival evaluators.

The philosophy of this event is such that there will be no scores, no ratings, and no ranking of performing ensembles. The event provides an opportunity for your students to perform in a superb acoustic space, receive recorded comments, and learn in a clinic setting with a professional music educator. Each performing ensemble will receive a recording of their performance with no judge commentary as well as recordings from the clinicians.

Participation is by competitive application. All recordings must be conducted by the current director of the ensemble. Submit:

  • A short musical resume (pdf) listing the accomplishments of the ensemble.
  • A minimum of two and up to three contrasting audio recordings (WAV, AIFF, or MP3) from the past year. Performances must be single takes of either a rehearsal or performance.
  • All selections must have been on a program for the past year. Submit a copy of the program for each selection (pdf). If selections are on the same program, only one upload is necessary.

The festival seeks to provide a positive and enriching performance opportunity for all groups. We ask that each performing ensemble plan to attend at least two performances of other ensembles during your day and the Belmont Wind Ensemble performance in the middle of the day.
