The Charlie Curb Lectures

The Sermon on the Mount

A 6-Week Judeo-Christian Perspective

Hosted Jointly By:
The Rev. Charlie Curb Center For Faith Leadership The Temple – Congregation Ohabai Sholom

January 12th – February 16th
Tuesday Evenings at 6:00 p.m. via Zoom

This 6-part lecture series will feature an in-depth look at The Sermon on the Mount from both a Christian and Jewish perspective.  Beginning in Matthew 5 and extending through the end of Matthew 7, this portion of Scripture contains the most complete and extensive look at the ethical teachings of Jesus.  As a Jew, Jesus offered these lessons through the lens of His culture and faith experience.  We will unpack the rich and deep meanings of His words as we explore their impact on all persons of faith.  Each evening will feature a half-hour presentation, followed by open discussion and comments.  (Lectures will be based on Amy-Jill Levine’s recent book – Sermon on the Mount – A Beginners Guide to the Kingdom of Heaven.)

Leaders Include:

Dr. Jon Roebuck, Executive Director of The Rev. Charlie Curb Center for Faith Leadership at Belmont University

Rabbi Mark Schiftan, Senior Rabbi, The Temple – Congregation Ohabai Sholom

This six-week series of lectures will be offered each Tuesday evening, via Zoom, from January 12th  – February 16th starting at 6 p.m. weekly.  Please join us each week as we learn together.
