Percussion Ensemble

Percussion EnsemblePercussion Ensemble, directed by Dr. Christopher Norton.

Percussion Ensemble is comprised primarily of graduate and undergraduate classical percussion majors from the School of Music. The purpose of the ensemble is to provide students with an opportunity to explore the world of chamber percussion ensemble music. Performance repertoire ranges in style, number of personnel, and includes both established "standards" as well as new compositions. The ensemble performs a full-length concert each semester in addition to selections on other Belmont concerts; the ensemble also performs off-campus.

While the ensemble is integral to the education of the classical percussion major, any student enrolled at Belmont who has a background in percussion performance and music-reading skills may audition; however, classical percussion majors will be given first consideration in the audition process.

Rehearsals are held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:00 - 3:50 p.m. This course offers one hour of ensemble credit.

Music director: Dr. Christopher Norton, Belmont University. Interested applicants are encouraged to contact Dr. Norton at 615-460-6987 or via email at
