Adam Summers

Adam Summers, MA, MT-BC, Instructor of Music Therapy, joined the faculty at Belmont University in the Fall of 2017. 

Mr. Summers earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music with a minor in Business from Susquehanna University and a Master of Arts degree in Music Therapy from New York University. As a board-certified music therapist, Mr. Summers has over 15 years of clinical experience providing music therapy services in a wide range of clinical settings, including pediatric medicine, adult addiction treatment, adult psychiatry, special education, physical/developmental disabilities, and eldercare.

Mr. Summers holds an advanced certification in Vocal Psychotherapy through the Music Psychotherapy Center in New York City. In addition, Mr. Summers has completed post-graduate training in the Bonny Method of Guided Imagery and Music (Level I), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.

In addition to teaching various music therapy courses, Mr. Summers coordinates all pre-internship clinical placements for the program and provides on-site clinical supervision at a local children’s hospital and an assisted living facility.
