Undergraduate Admissions to the School of Music
1. Apply to the University
Complete and submit the University application for undergraduate admission. After submitting the application, applicants will receive an email prompting them to complete the Undergraduate School of Music Audition Registration Form in their BU4U account. They willl choose their intended audition date or the video audition option.
2. Audition for the School of Music
The School of Music does not prescreen for any of its programs.
All programs in the School of Music require an audition. The audition determines admissibility into the School of Music, which is separate from the University admission decision. After submitting the application, applicants will receive an email prompting them to complete the Undergraduate School of Music Audition Registration Form in their BU4U account. They will choose their intended audition date or the video audition option.
Students can audition for the Music Minor after beginning classes at Belmont University. Students interested in the Music Minor can request information by e-mailing SOMauditions@belmont.edu. Classes for the Music Minor must be started by the beginning of the sophomore year.

Video Audition Information
Video auditions are pre-recorded and submitted via an online platform for auditions called Acceptd. Once registered for the video option on your registration form, specific instructions for the video audition will be sent to the applicant's email address as provided on the application. Please note, information and any supplemental materials will not be sent until the student registers for the audition. See above for directions on registering.
Videos may be recorded using a phone, tablet, or computer. All video auditions must include audio and video. Professional video and audio recording technology is not needed.
How to submit a portfolio: If your program requires a portfolio, along with an audition on an instrument, you will submit your portfolio via Acceptd by the day of your instrumental audition or soon after.
Video Submission Deadlines
The overall deadline for video auditions is May 15, 2023. Video auditions are accepted on a rolling basis. You may submit your video audition at any time after you have completed the registration in your application to Belmont.
Transfer Students: The transfer student deadline for video submission is November 13, 2022 for Spring 2023 entry and July 1, 2023 for Fall 2023 entry. Please note if you are at transfer who plans to attend orientation during June 2023, you must submit your video by the May 15, 2023 deadline.
First-Year Freshman starting in Spring 2023: Deadline for Spring 2023 entry is November 13, 2022.
3. Receive the Admissions Decision
A University admissions decision letter will be mailed when your application is complete with the Office of Admissions. The School of Music admissions decision letter will be emailed 3-4 weeks after your audition, as long as you’ve received your University decision letter.
4. Receive Music Scholarship Information
Students are automatically considered for a School of Music talent-based scholarship when they audition. Students who are awarded a scholarship will be sent an award letter only if they’ve received a School of Music scholarship. The overall scholarship deadline for in-person and video auditions is February 18, 2023.
Notification of Scholarship: Those who audition either in-person or via video prior to November 13, 2022 will receive a scholarship decision in December 2022. Those auditioning after November 13, 2022 will receive their decision March 2023. Please visit our Music Scholarships page for more information.
5. Accept the Offer of Admission
Pay the Enrollment Deposit by the May 1 National Reply Date (December 1 for spring applicants) to confirm you’ve made the decision to attend Belmont. Information about the Enrollment Deposit will be included in the University admissions acceptance letter.
6. Register for New Student Orientation
Create your MyBelmont account and register for Summer Orientation. More details will be emailed to you regarding Music Orientation. You can also visit our New Student Information page for more information.
