Welcome Week 2009

August 22-28, 2009

Welcome Week begins with Opening Day, August 22, 2009. The university comes alive as over 1,300 new students arrive on campus. Your Towering Traditions Welcome Week experience comes together as all students are placed in a Tower Team led by upperclassmen. Your Tower Team is the vital link to get connected to the Belmont community.

Academic Orientation

If you are a student who was unable to attend Towering Traditions Summer Orientation 2009, you will participate in Academic Orientation (August 24-25) during Welcome Week.  This is when you will receive critical information, go through advising, and register for your Fall Semester courses.  You may have already indicated, when registering as "Not Attending" for Summer Orientation that you will be joining us for Welcome Week.

Move-In

Move-In will take place, as the schedule denotes, from 8:00 AM - 2:30 PM.  The Office of Residence Life will mail move-in time assignments to all new students who will be living on campus.  This assignment enables the university to create an efficient and timely process by which to move in more than 1,000 new students in one day.  Please refer all questions regarding your move-in time assignment to the Office of Residence Life at (615) 460-5802.

Parent Attendance

We invite all parents and family members to join us for all weekend events through the Matriculation Ceremony on the morning of Sunday, August 23rd.  It is highly encouraged that parents and family members be prepared to leave by 1:00 PM that Sunday afternoon as students will begin attending required, student-only programming and events at 1:30 PM.  As with Summer Orientation, we do not provide parent and family accommodations so you will need to secure a weekend's stay at a hotel nearby if traveling from out of town.
