Towering Traditions Summer Orientation
Summer Orientation is a one day (transfer students) or two-day (freshman students) session geared towards getting the new Belmont student acclimated to both academic and institutional life at Belmont while preparing for class registration. Students have the opportunity to meet administration, faculty, and fellow students in preparation for their first days on campus in August.

Summer Orientation FAQs
Is there a fee for New Student Orientation?
Your Orientation Fee is included in your enrollment deposit, therefore there are no further charges for Orientation.
If I am a student coming by myself the night before, is there somewhere for me to stay? Will there be anything for me to do?
Those students arriving early must simply indicate on their registration for Towering Traditions that they will need "prior night housing." This communicates to us that you will be there the night before your Summer Orientation sesion begins. We will have a relaxed and informal program in the evening, at approximately 8:00 pm for those "early arrivals" to meet each other, play some games, have some snacks, and meet their upperclassmen orientation leaders.
When I went to register for TT, I learned there's a hold on my account---what do I do about this?
All incoming students have an Advisor Hold that will be released after meeting with their academic advisor during Summer Orientation. The hold will not affect your ability to register for Towering Traditions Summer Orientation.
If I am coming for a later session, will I not be able to get the classes I need?
Absolutely, not! We would not offer an orientation session that would disable you from registering for the classes you need for your first year. Your time with your advisor during Summer Orientation is to give you an idea of what your options are and what might be the best choices for your first semester. While the options become more limited, you should be more than able to get the classes you need to start your time at Belmont off right!
Where do students stay during Summer Orientation?
Students stay in one of our newest residence halls, Kennedy Hall, with suite-style bathrooms. Please see the Packing List for students located above to know what to bring.
Do parents stay with their students during TT?
Parents do not stay with their students during Towering Traditions. We provide a listing of great hotels and accommodations that offer discounts to the parents and families of Belmont students, through the link "Travelling to New Student Orientation" on the lefthand sidebar.
What time do TT events begin and end each day, and what time is TT over?
You can expect Freshman Summer Orientation programs to begin between 8:00 am and 9:00 am daily and to end around 8:00 pm on Day 1. Day 2 will end at approximately Noon. You can access a schedule by downloading a Summer Orientation Schedule and Welcome Week Schedule when they become available (late spring for Summer Orientation and early summer for Welcome Week). If you are flying for your trip to Nasvhille, please plan to fly in the night before your session and fly out no earlier than 2PM on last day of your session. For Transfer Summer Orientation, we will begin between 8:00 am and 9:00 am and be finished at approximately 3:00 pm.
What if I cannot attend Towering Traditions Summer Orientation?
While it is best to attend Summer Orientation, Welcome Week provides all of the necessary academic requirements for registration. Most students find it more convenient to register during Summer Orientation because course selection occurs no earlier than the day before classes begin in the fall. If you can only come during Welcome Week, simply indicate you will not be attending Summer Orientation but that you will be attending Welcome Week on your registration for Towering Traditions.
