2018 Summer Orientation Schedule

First-Year Schedule | Transfer Schedule

A full schedule of Summer Orientation events will be posted on May 1, 2018. Parents and students will receive a detailed schedule of all orientation events at Summer Orientation.

First-Year Orientation Schedule

Day 1

Registration begins around 8:00 a.m. Students will attend multiple sessions narrating the story of the “First-Year Experience” revolving around educational investment, classroom activities, co-curricular activities and other elements of the first year. Music majors and math majors will take placement tests on Day 1 for academic placement in classes. Students and parents will also take tours of their residential communities and explore Belmont dining options on campus. In the evening, students will begin the student-only portion of the orientation process. Students will have an opportunity to meet current students and socialize with fellow new bruins during the fiesta dance party!

Day 2

Students will continue the student-only portion of orientation by meeting with an academic advisor, completing academic planning and registering for their fall classes. Meanwhile, parents will begin the parent-only portion of orientation with information sessions and receptions revolving around parent needs. Around noon, parents and students will reconnect for travel home. We encourage families to not book flights earlier than 2:30 p.m.

Transfer Orientation Schedule

Transfer students and parents participate in a 1 day orientation session. Transfer orientation events start at 8:00 a.m. and continue through 5:00 p.m. In the morning, transfer students and parents will attend multiple sessions narrating The Belmont Experience. Sessions will revolve around educational investment, academic life, and community involvement.

Transfer Students

Starting at lunch, transfer students will move into the student-only portion of orientation. Students will spend the afternoon divided by academic college, providing an opportunity to meet students, faculty, and staff in their respective major. Students will also complete academic planning and register for their fall courses.

Transfer Parents

While students are completing academic planning and registering for fall courses, parents will take part in our parent-only portion of orientation. We realize parents play a vital role in the life of the University. The parent only sessions will provide parents with information on staying informed and engaged while empowering their student to thrive at Belmont. The day will end with a parent reception. Around 5:00pm, parents and students will reconnect for travel home.
