August 17-21, 2013
Welcome Week is a five-day program in August immediately before you begin classes. You will be placed in a Tower Team group and have the opportunity to explore, embrace and engage all that Belmont has to offer.
Explore: College is a time for you to explore your passions and cultivate your talents, and there is no better place to do it than here. Belmont helps you explore both who you are and who you are called to be.
Embrace: One of Belmont’s greatest aspects centers on community. Over the years you spend here, connecting with the community that surrounds you, this place becomes more than a university – it becomes your home. Make the most of your time here and embrace everything that Belmont has to offer you.
Engage: As you begin exploring who you are and embracing the community at and surrounding Belmont, we hope that you will decide to fully engage this place. Seize opportunities both in and out of the classroom. Engage your professors and peers in class discussion and find your place in academic life. Use what you learn to develop your talents and discover how you can be active in the community.
Saturday | The President's and Trustees' Welcome and Dinner
The President and Board of Trustees host a dinner for all new students and their families. During this event you'll enjoy dinner, music from Belmont student bands and the kick off to Becoming Belmont for new students.
Saturday | Tower Jam and Meet Your Tower Team
The ultimate icebreaker for students! You don't want to miss this!
Sunday | The Matriculation Ceremony
An annual gathering of staff, faculty, students and families to celebrate the heritage of Belmont University and our commitment to community, faith and learning.
Monday | SERVE
Our annual community service event sends over 1400 new students serving into the Nashville community.
Tuesday | Life Under The Tower
The spirit of Belmont comes together to "insure Belmont College of days more glorious and opportunities more abundant." (Quoted from the Founder's Day address by Chancellor, Dr. Herbert C. Gabhart, March 11, 1963)
These are just a few of the events planned for students over the course of the week!
Check-In and Schedule
Check-In for all new students, freshmen and transfer, takes place in the Beaman Student Life Center on:
- Friday, August 16, 2013 from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
- Saturday, August 17, 2013 from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
When you check in for Welcome Week in the Beaman Student Life Center Lobby students will receive a schedule for Welcome Week.
Academic Orientation (if you did not attend Foundations in June)
If you are a student who was unable to attend Foundations you are required to participate in Academic Orientation (August 19) during Welcome Week. You will receive critical information, go through academic advising, and register for your Fall Semester courses. During Towering Traditions registration if you indicated "Not Attending" Foundations you will automatically be registered for Academic Orientation during Welcome Week.
The Office of Residence Life will mail move-in packets to all new students who will be living on campus. This packet enables the university to create an efficient and timely process to move in more than 1,500 new students in one day. Please follow all directions in the packet.
Refer all questions regarding your move-in time assignment to the Office of Residence Life at 615-460-5802.
We invite all parents and family members to join us for all weekend events through the Matriculation Ceremony on the morning of Sunday, August 18. It is highly encouraged that parents and family members be prepared to leave by 1:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon as students will begin attending required, student-only events at 1:00 p.m. As with Foundations, we do not provide parent and family accommodations so you will need to secure a weekend's stay at a nearby hotel if traveling from out of town.
