The Troutt Theater
Belmont University has named the new 300-seat proscenium theater after former Belmont president and his wife, Bill and Carole Troutt. The Troutt Theater, located in the new theater complex on Belmont Boulevard, is equipped with state-of-the-art lighting and audio equipment and serves as a performance and teaching facility. The Troutt Theater is the premier facility in Nashville and has been the stage of choice for productions by The Nashville Shakespeare Festival, The Actor’s Bridge Ensemble, The Nashville Children’s Theatre, The Nashville Ballet, The People’s Branch Theatre, Salama Ministries, Rejoice Ministries, and Orchestra Nashville. The Troutt Theatre is the home for the winter production of The Nashville Shakespeare Festival and The Actors Bridge/Belmont annual collaborative production.
The Black Box Theatre
The Black Box Theatre is a 150 seat experimental performance and classroom venue located on Compton Ave. behind the new Troutt Theater. This venue is the second stage for the Department of Theatre and Dance and a classroom facility for all movement based performance courses. The Black Box is a flexible performance space with moveable seating risers and is equipped with state-of-the-art lighting and audio equipment. The Black Box is the home for The Actors Bridge Ensemble.
