Students may take courses in various disciplines but will receive FRE (French) credit. Only in pre-arranged situations will a course taken there be given credit other than FRE credit. A French major or minor with advanced level proficiency is best suited for this program.


Students live in single rooms in university housing with cooking facilities on each floor of the residence hall. They are housed with international students from all over the world as well as local French students. The residence halls are within walking distance of the classrooms.

Student Life

The University of Angers has greatly expanded its physical training, sports and artistic activities to include a climbing wall and two gymnasiums. Over 40 sports and physical activities are offered. Additionally, the university has a 350-seat theatre for professional and student productions. Angers is a safe city that offers students plenty of options for activities outside the classroom. It has a lively night life with many cafés and clubs for students to explore. There are numerous museums, churches, shops and markets in town that offer cultural experiences. The beautiful medieval Château d’Angers is not to be missed!


Angers is situated in the western Loire Valley about 1:45 from Paris via high-speed train.
