Music Product Design, Development & Marketing

This program will take students through the process of music product design, development, and marketing in wonderful locales of Berlin, Germany and Vienna, Austria. Class highlights include visiting top German Audio Research Institutes, audio equipment companies, and acoustic performance spaces across the region.  The general science portion of the class includes an introductory survey of topics including electromagnetism, mechanics, and physical acoustics.  The marketing portion of the class will involve the process of taking a music product from its design through the marketing process.   In addition, students will have time to explore both cities during free time activities as well.

May 11 – May 13, 2016: Classes begin in Nashville
May 15 – May 20, 2016: Germany: Travel to Berlin and Erfurt
May 21 – May 24, 2016: Austria: Travel to Vienna
May 25 – May 27, 2016: Return to Nashville, finish classes

Program Dates:
Maymester Study Abroad:  May 11, 2016 - May 27, 2016

Interest Meeting:

  • MBU 3950: International Marketing (3 hours)
  • PHY 1010: Applications of Electro- Acoustics (3 hours)(fulfills gen-ed science requirement)
  • Online options: Third Year Writing, Religion Jr. Cornerstone (Path A or B), International Business  (You must participate in at least one course offered onsite. You should consult individual program faculty to see how online options can fit into your study abroad program.)
  • Open to qualified Belmont students or students from other institutions
  • Students can be from any discipline
  • Undergraduate students need GPA of 2.5 or above
Costs: Program Fee + Tuition

1)     Program Fee: TBD

2)     Belmont Tuition: Tuition is charged at the special study abroad tuition rate of 1/3 the cost of normal Summer tuition. For every 3 hours of study abroad credit you register for, you pay for only one hour.

Undergraduate: Upon successful completion of the program, students will earn three - nine hours of Belmont University credit.
