Sydney and Hong Kong Internship Program

Global Academic Adventures: Internship and Study Semester in Asia Pacific: January 8 - April 21, 2018

Students spend the semester in Australia completing coursework and working in the entertainment industry in Sydney, Australia or Hong Kong. This program is open to any business or Music Business/EIS major. After a week-long orientation in Australia, you will attend classes for 5-6 weeks in Sydney while completing three courses (9 hours of academic credit). You will then spend the final eight weeks in internships with organizations in the greater Sydney area or in Hong Kong, working full time, five days per week (6 hours of internship credit).

Program Term 

January 8 - January 13, 2018: Departure and Orientation in Cairns, Australia

  • welcome dinner
  • orientation activities
  • day trip to Great Barrier Reef
  • exploration of Cairns

January 14, 2018 : Orientation in Sydney, Australia

Week 1: January 15 - January 21, 2018: Class One in Sydney, Monday - Friday. Weekend 1: Day trip to the Blue Mountains.

Week 2: January 22 - January 28, 2018: Class One continues in Sydney, Monday - Friday. Weekend 2: undertake optional activities.

Week 3: January 29 - February 4, 2018: Class Two Begins in Sydney, Monday - Friday.  Weekend 3: undertake optional activities. 

Week 4: February 5 - February 11, 2018: Class 2 continues. Welcome dinner during the week. Weekend 4: undertake optional activities. 

Week 5: February 12 - February 18, 2018: Class 3 begins. Both groups have time today to find their internship location. Weekend 5: undertake optional activities. 

Week 6: February 19 - February 23, 2018: Class 3 continues.

February 24, 2018 -
Students undertaking their internship in Hong Kong depart today.

February 25, 2018 - Hong Kong students undertake orientation activities. Both groups have time today to find their internship location.

Week 7: February 26 - March 4, 2018: Students will start their internships on Monday and meet their office teams. Students will work at their internships for the week, with weekends free to explore or take part in optional activities. A catch-up dinner will take place during the week.

Week 8: March 5 - March 11, 2018: 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Students undertake their internships (office hours can vary). Weekend 8: undertake optional activities. 

Week 9: March 12 - March 18, 2018: Students undertake their internships (office hours can vary). Weekend 9: undertake optional activities. 

Week 10: March 19 - March 25, 2018: Students undertake their internships (office hours can vary). Weekend 10: undertake optional activities. 

Week 11: March 26 - April 1, 2018: Students undertake their internships (office hours can vary). A catch-up dinner will take place during the week. Weekend 11: undertake optional activities. 

Week 12: April 2 - April 8, 2018: Students undertake their internships (office hours can vary). Weekend 12: undertake optional activities. 

Week 13: April 9 - April 15, 2018: Students undertake their internships (office hours can vary). Weekend 12: undertake optional activities. 

Week 14: April 16 - April 20, 2018: Students undertake their final week of  internships (office hours can vary). Group farewell dinner.

April 21, 2018: Depart for USA

Program Cost

$19,145: includes program fee, tuition, accommodations,  Cairns trip, Internship Placement, on-site staff support. Does not include airfare, meals or international flight. Price based on a minimum of 6 students. A $1,000 deposit will be owed once October 15th application deadline is reached( this will go towards the total program fee, but is non-refundable if students drop out after October 20th)
