Dr. Mimi Barnard Barnard is Belmont’s Associate Provost for Interdisciplinary Studies and Global Education (ISGE). As senior international officer, she leads Belmont’s global initiatives, including Belmont’s nationally ranked study abroad programs, and establishes strategic partnerships with higher education institutions abroad. Barnard has a reputation for being an “academic entrepreneur,” having created innovative pedagogical programs with embedded high-impact practices, such as living and learning communities, service learning, etc. and strengthening interdisciplinary programs offered on campus and internationally. Prior to coming to Belmont, Barnard served in an executive leadership role with an international higher education association in Washington, D.C., providing professional development opportunities for university leaders in several international settings. She taught on the undergraduate English and graduate higher education faculties and served as Faculty-in-Residence in Oxford, England.

Barnard has traveled in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, Latin America, and Canada. She serves on the Association of International Education Administrators (AIEA) Policy Advisory Committee. Barnard and her husband, Dr. Wayne Barnard, have two adult children, a daughter, who lives in NYC, and a son, an active duty Naval officer, stationed in the Middle East.
