Belmont University has offered a major in social work since 1974 and transitioned into the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree in 1999. Ours is a professional degree program that prepares competent practitioners who are challenged to improve social and economic justice around the world.
We prepare students to engage the world and transform it with disciplined intelligence, compassion, courage, and faith. Our students have many opportunities to serve and learn experientially and they engage in a wide range of service-learning - from volunteering at local agencies to traveling abroad for semester-long field instruction.
Many of our graduates continue their education with advanced placement in MSW programs, completing their advanced degree in one year or less.
Social work offers a wide range of employment opportunities in a variety of settings. We look forward to working with you to achieve your career goals.
