Graduate School Visits
Every spring the Department of Social Work plans a trip for the students. The purpose of the trip is to visit a graduate social work program, as well as to visit historical landmarks in the area that relate to social work issues.
In Spring 2015, twenty-nine students and faculty went to New York City where we visited Columbia University (pictured below), New York University, the Tenement House Museum, and the Holocaust Museum.
In 2014, students and faculty went to Washington, D.C. where we visited historic Howard University, the Holocaust Museum, and also met with a lobbyist to learn about policy practice in social work.
In 2013 we took a trip to Chicago (photo to right) where we visited Loyola University, University of Chicago, and University of Illinois at Chicago. And what trip to Chicago would be complete without a visit to Hull House, the historic settlement house founded by Jane Addams, the “mother” of the social work profession.
Past trips have included visits to New Orleans, Portland, and Memphis, and there are many exciting possibilities for the future!
