Dr. Lorraina Scholten
One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is being involved with highly motivated and competent students who are committed to serving others. Our students understand and fight for social and economic justice and are high achievers in every sense. They come with a delightful combination of compassion and desire to improve the communities in which they practice. We graduate competent social workers who are eager and ready to transform the world. It is an honor to engage them in the profession.
Currently, I serve on the Tennessee Consortium of Social Work Educators (TSWEC). We are involved in the development and implementation of certification for child welfare workers and training Department of Children Services’ workers and Resource Parents through Title IV-E. My other professional interests include policy studies, evidence-based practice, and advocating for quality universal health care and mental health parity.
Away from work I enjoy spending time with my husband, Paul and our four children and one grandchild. We sing, play, read, walk, swim and eat together every chance we get.
