Sean P. Muldoon, LCSW

I am the adjunct professor teaching the Crisis Intervention and Social Work Issues in Substance Abuse courses at Belmont. In addition to my role at Belmont, I am the Director of Case Management at Nashville CARES, Middle Tennessee's largest AIDS Services Organization, where I provide administrative supervision of the case management, financial assistance, and information and referral services as well as direct supervision of two clinical supervisors and 13 case managers. With 24 years of work as a social worker, I have held a variety of administrative and clinical positions in the fields of addiction, mental health and HIV/AIDS in both for-profit and non-profit, in-patient and out-patient agencies and organizations.
I graduated from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio, my home town, in May 1980 with a BS in Sociology. Soon after, in 1983, I received my Masters of Social Work from the University of Kentucky.
I have been involved with the Belmont Social Work program for several years before accepting a teaching position. Initially I served as a field supervisor and most recently as a member of the Social Work Advisory Committee.
I am involved in a number of important community /professional organizations. A member of the NASW and National Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors, I am an active member of the Ryan White Community AIDS Partnership, United Way Helping People in Crisis Council, Nashville Homeless Coalition and Metropolitan Development and Housing Authority Continuum of Care Committee.
My wife, Moreen, and I have been married for 22 years and are the proud parents of two daughters who are currently attending Austin Peay State University. Originally from Cincinnati Ohio, they moved to Nashville in 1986. I am an active member of my church community, St. Stephen Catholic Community, where I am a past parish council chair, and currently participate in several church ministries, the Knights of Columbus and Cursuillo.
