Legislative Branch

The role of Congress is to serve as a representative for all Belmont students. Each Congress member is required to serve on at least one SGA committee. The four committees that make up the Legislative Branch are:

  • Campus Communications and Outreach
  • Campus Events
  • Finance
  • Policy Review

All Congress members must be in good standing with Belmont University. Congress members run for office in the fall and/or spring, and are elected by the Belmont student body. All legislative powers of the Student Government Association are vested in the Student Congress.

Congress Meetings are held every other Monday night at 5 p.m. All Congress meetings are open to all Belmont student, faculty, and staff members that wish to attend, but only Congress has voting power. Committee meetings are held every other Monday evening at 5 p.m. when Congress is not convening.
