Programs & Events
There are several annual events and programs that we sponsor throughout the year. SGA makes several events happen on campus each year in two ways: we grant money to other student organizations on campus through Grant Petitions and we also sponsor our own programs.
Executive Leadership Program
Incoming freshmen can apply for this yearlong program designed to
build leadership and teambuilding skills, facilitate involvement
with community service, and prepare participants for leadership
beyond college.
Homecoming
All of Belmont joins in to create Homecoming week, but SGA has the
privilege of planning the bonfire, designing and providing the
t-shirts, creating theme days to promote school spirit, and
numerous other activities.
Mistletoe Ball
The Junior Class officers organize this annual tradition. Before
Christmas Break, students come together for dinner and dancing
while dressed in their finest.
Bruin Den Day
This annual community service event allows students across campus
to come together to do yard-work, cleaning, and any other needs
that our surrounding neighbors may have.
Battle of the Boulevard
To build school spirit and continue the tradition of our rivalry
with our neighboring university, we battle the Lipscomb Bison each
basketball season. SGA takes part in planning the bonfire pep
rally, the t-shirts to show our school spirit, the Copper Chef
competition between each school�s head chefs, and
started the tradition of the Battle of the Boulevard commemorative
street sign.
Week of Compassion
For three years the Community Service committee has planned this
week emphasizing community involvement and awareness. Speakers from
Nashville organizations speak about how to serve our community, and
a Compassion International representative from as far away as
Rwanda comes each year to share how this organization has changed
children�s lives.
