Overview Heron Hall

Heron Hall is one of the oldest buildings on campus and one of the three residence halls composing the North Lawn Community.  Heron was named in honor of Susan Heron who, along with Ida Hood, established Belmont College.  It is a  four-story residence hall which houses 117 women.  Those who enter Heron's lobby may find students playing board games, playing the hall's piano, or just hanging out.

Facilities/Amenities

The rooms in Heron are suite-style, meaning that two rooms share an adjoining bathroom. Heron rooms are mostly double occupancy, though some larger rooms house three occupants. Each room is equipped with a sink, cable hook-up and internet hook-ups for each resident.

Laundry facilities are located in the basement of Heron Hall. There are also handicap accessible laundry facilities available on the first floor. Coins are not needed for residents to use the laundry facilities.

A kitchen, equipped with a full size refrigerator, a microwave, cabinets, and a community sink is located in the basement as well. Also in the basement is a small lobby for study groups, small gatherings, or just hanging out! Vending machines are located in the basement and in the main lobby on the first floor.

There is a television in Heron's first floor lobby, where many residents and guests enjoy spending time. At the entrance to the building, in the lobby, is the Heron front desk, where male visitors check in and out, and residents check out games, vacuums, etc., or obtain assistance. The mailroom is located on the first floor of Heron, just off the lobby.

Staff

Heron has four Resident Assistants (RAs). One RA is assigned to each floor. RAs are available to provide peer guidance, develop community building activities and floor programs, and serve as a resource to students. RAs report to the Residence Director (RD). The RD is a full-time, live-in employee of Belmont University. The RD has a Bachelors degree, and in some cases, a Masters degree. The RD is responsible for the administrative details of the building, including maintenance requests, discipline, supervising the RAs, and serving as a resource for students. The RD Office is located off the 1st floor lobby and the RD apartment is also located off the lobby area.
