Chapter 31 (Vocational Rehabilitation)


I. Complete the following steps to receive eligible VA Education Benefits.

Admission

Admission to Belmont University:
Undergraduate and graduate students must apply to Belmont University prior to August 1st for the fall semester or December 1st for the spring semester. To apply, see the Belmont University Prospective Student website.

Apply for VA Education Benefits:

  1. Upon receiving a letter of acceptance from Belmont University, you must complete the VA Form 28-1900 (Disabled Veterans Application for Vocational Rehabilitation). For more information, call 1-800-827-1000.

  2. Submit the application to the St. Louis Regional Processing Office.

  3. An appointment to discuss your educational plans is scheduled by a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor located at the Nashville VA Regional Office.

  4. A service-connected disability and other conditions must be determined for benefits eligibility.

II. Complete these steps each semester of enrollment.

Registration
  1. Schedule an appointment to meet with your academic advisor. If you do not know who to contact, please contact the academic department. Your academic advisor is the authorized person to release the advisor's hold.

  2. Check Banner Web for any student account holds.

  3. Register for classes through Banner Web, according to the registration schedule.

  4. After registering for all classes, contact the VA Coordinator by e-mail or phone to confirm your registration is finalized.

  5. The coordinator will submit VA form 28-1905 to the Nashville VA Regional Office.

  6. For questions regarding VA payment of tuition, fees, books and supplies, please contact Mrs. Jennifer Bussell in Student Financial Services at 460-6396.

  7. Notify the VA Coordinator immediately of any changes to your registration (i.e. drop, add, withdrawal or withdrawal with a grade).
