Chapter 1606 (Montgomery GI Bill-Selected Reserve)


I. Complete the following steps to receive eligible VA Education Benefits.

Admission

Admission to Belmont University:
Undergraduate and graduate students must apply to Belmont University prior to August 1st for the fall semester or December 1st for the spring semester. To apply, see the Belmont University Prospective Student website.

Apply for VA Education Benefits:

  1. Upon receiving a letter of acceptance from Belmont University, first time VA educational benefit recipients must complete the VA Form 22-1990 (Application for VA Education Benefits).

  2. Transfer students who have received VA benefits while enrolled in a previous institution should complete VA Form 22-1995 (Request for Change of Program or Place of Training).

  3. Submit a copy of the completed VA form and copy of DD214 and/or NOBE to to:

    Office of the Registrar
    Freeman Hall, 1st Floor
    C/O Veteran Affairs Coordinator
    1900 Belmont Blvd
    Nashville, TN 37212

  4. If you choose to complete VA Form 22-1900 (VONAPP) online, the 'signature page' must be mailed to the St. Louis RPO.

    Once the application has been processed by the RPO, a 'Certificate of Eligibility' (COE) will be mailed to you. Please send a copy of the COE to the VA Coordinator located in Office of the Registrar.


     
II. Complete these steps each semester of enrollment. 

Registration
  1. Schedule an appointment to meet with your academic advisor. If you do not know who to contact, please contact the academic department. Your academic advisor is the authorized person to release the advisor's hold.

  2. Check Banner Web for any student account holds.

  3. Register for classes through Banner Web, according to the registration schedule.

  4. After registering for all classes, contact the VA Coordinator by e-mail or phone to confirm your registration is finalized. The coordinator will submit the enrollment certification online to the St. Louis RPO.

  5. Your account balance must be paid in accordance with the university policy and deadline. See the Student Financial Services website for detailed information.

  6. Verify your enrollment monthly the 1st of each month through W.A.V.E. online or by calling 1-877-823-2378. Depending on the processing time of the St. Louis RPO, the system may not recognize a student's verification. First time benefit recipients cannot complete the enrollment verification process until the 'Certificate of Eligibility' has been received. Payments are retroactive to the first day of classes.

  7. Notify the VA Coordinator immediately of any changes to your registration (i.e. drop, add, withdrawal or withdrawal with a grade).
