Commencement Activities

Graduating students should check their Belmont email accounts for important deadlines, graduation announcements, and commencement activities.

Friday, May 3, 2019

Graduation Rehearsal at 8:30am - Curb Event Center
Degree candidates should arrive by 8:15 am. Rehearsal is for all degree candidates participating in the graduation ceremonies and will begin promptly at 8:30am.

Baccalaureate Student Reflection and Celebration Service at 2:00pm– Curb Event Center
Baccalaureate is a student reflection and celebration service for graduates, family and guests, faculty, and staff. Graduates should arrive in their cap and gown to line up for the processional at 1:30pm. Arena doors will open for family and guests at 1:00pm. Baccalaureate is not a ticketed event. 

University Reception at 3:00pm-Beaman Student Lobby and Gabhart Student Center
All graduates, family, guests, faculty, and staff are invited to attend the commencement reception. The reception is sponsored by the Office of Alumni Relations. The commencement reception provides an opportunity for you and your family to meet and mingle with faculty, administrators, and fellow graduates. Join us to celebrate graduation with those who have shared parts of the same journey. This is not a ticketed event.

Graduation Ceremonies

Saturday, May 4, 2019- Curb Event Center

Graduation Tickets
General admission tickets are required for family and guests to attend a spring graduation ceremony. Degree candidates may request up to 6 tickets for family and guests to attend their respective ceremony.

Ticket reservations and distribution periods will be announced to degree candidates in late January. Additional information about commencement tickets and how degree candidates may claim their allotment of tickets will be sent to candidates' Belmont email accounts.

For those without tickets, the ceremonies will be live-streamed in the Johnson Theater located in the R. Milton and Denice Johnson Center on campus.

Degree candidates will participate in either the morning or afternoon ceremony, according to their respective college. 

Morning Commencement Ceremony at 9:30am –Curb Event Center.
Arena doors will open at 8:30am.

    Bachelor candidates (including Bachelor of Business Administration Adult Degree Program candidates)
    Master candidates
    Mike Curb College of Entertainment & Music Business
    Bachelor candidates (including majors within the Department of Media Studies)
    Master candidates
  • College of Sciences & Mathematics
    Bachelor candidates
  • College of Theology & Christian Ministry
    Bachelor candidates
  • University College & Interdisciplinary Studies
    Bachelor candidates (Liberal Studies and Public Relations Management Adult Degree Program candidates)

Please note: Candidates in the following Adult Degree Programs will participate in the ceremony with their college major.
Business Administration Adult Degree candidates will participate with Jack C. Massey College of Business. Ministry Adult Degree candidates will participate with College of Theology & Christian Ministry. Nursing and Social Work Adult Degree candidates will participate with Gordon E. Inman College of Health Sciences & Nursing.

Afternoon Commencement Ceremony at 2:30pm –Curb Event Center.
Arena doors will open at 1:30pm

NOTE:

Belmont University will award degrees to candidates on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 9:30am. and 2:30pm. (according to the graduate's respective college)  in the Curb Event Center. Doors to the Curb Event Center will open at approximately 8:30am for the morning ceremony and 1:30pm for the afternoon ceremony.

Tickets are required for admission into the graduation ceremony. Candidates may request up to 6 tickets for family and guests to attend their respective graduation ceremony. Seating is general admission with the exception of areas specifically designated for graduating students, faculty, and guests requiring special seating accomodations due to physical disabilities. (Please see the 'Prospective Graduate Checklist' section of this website for more information about making a special service request).

Photography
Photography is generally permitted during commencement; however, individuals taking photographs should remain clear of the aisles as well as the auditorium floor throughout the ceremony.

Grad IMAGES is a professional commencement service available to capture graduates’ pictures during the ceremony. Please view the Grad IMAGES website or contact the photography servicer directly to receive information about their optional packages.
