Pre-PT for Undergraduates

Belmont University offers a fellowship program for undergraduates who attend Belmont University and are considering a career in physical therapy.  Pre-PT for Undergraduates

The Pre-PT Fellows Program at Belmont offers incoming freshmen, transfer students, and current Belmont students individualized Pre-PT advising with the Physical Therapy faculty, and, upon successful completion of the Pre-PT Fellows program, guaranteed admission to Belmont's School of Physical Therapy.

Pre-PT Fellows Program Requirements

To be considered for admission to this program, a student should have:

  • High school core and cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher for incoming freshmen
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher for transfer students or current Belmont students
  • Strong college preparatory curriculum for incoming freshmen, including 4 years of math and at least 3 years of science
  • ACT of 28 or higher, or SAT of 1260 or higher
  • Demonstration of an understanding of the field and commitment to Physical Therapy as a career in application essays

Benefits of Fellowship
  • Guaranteed admission to the Doctorate of Physical Therapy program upon successful completion of progression requirements
  • Individualized advising by Pre-Health Professions Advisor and Physical Therapy faculty member
Progression Requirements
  • 3.3 cumulative GPA and 3.3 GPA on all PT prerequisite courses upon completion of degree
  • Participate in a minimum of 50 hours of observation
  • Work or volunteer at a minimum of 2 Physical Therapy sites
  • Meet once a semester with Physical Therapy faculty member and Pre-Health Professions Advisor
  • Meet all admission requirements
  • Complete an application for admission form to the Professional Entry-Level Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree program
