You must read these instructions before you begin your application.
- Complete the entire Degree Seeking Online Application thoroughly. An incomplete application cannot be considered.
- Submit the application fee of $50. Checks or money orders should be made payable to Belmont University.
- Provide the Confidential Recommendation Form to the appropriate person as designated on the form and have the reference send the form directly to Belmont. Students should pay special attention to the instructions regarding who should complete this recommendation form.
- Complete the Personal Supplement and attach your answers to the Essay Questions and your Resumé of Activities. Be sure to include your full name, address and birthday on each page. Transfer applicants do not have to submit the Resumé of Activities.
- Request that official transcripts be sent from the high school directly to the Office of Admissions. For a transcript to be official, it may not be marked "Issued to Student". Transfer applicants who have earned 30 or more transferable hours of credit from a regionally accredited college at the time of application do not have to submit a high school transcript. A nursing applicant must be a licensed registered nurse or have a previous bachelor's degree to be exempt from this requirement.
- Request that official SAT-1 or ACT score reports be sent directly to Belmont. (Belmont's ACT code is 3946 and the SAT code is 1058). Belmont does not consider Writing test scores from either the SAT or ACT. Test scores will be accepted as official if submitted on an official high school transcript. Transfer applicants who have earned 30 or more transferable hours of credit from a regionally accredited college at the time of application do not have to submit test scores. A nursing applicant must be a licensed registered nurse or have a previous bachelor's degree to be exempt from this requirement.
- Provide the Secondary School Report Form to the appropriate person in your guidance office and have him or her send the completed form directly to Belmont. Transfer applicants who have earned 30 or more transferable hours of credit from a regionally accredited college at the time of application do not have to submit the Secondary School Report Form.
- Request that official transcripts from each college or university attended be sent directly to Belmont. If you are currently enrolled in your first term at an institution, you should request that the college or university send a "Letter of Good Standing" in lieu of a transcript.
Admission to a major within the
College of Visual and Performing Arts
Applicants who wish to pursue a major in the College of Visual and Performing Arts (School of Music, Department of Art, and Department of Theatre and Dance) will be considered for admission to the university after all application materials are received. An audition or portfolio review is required for admission to a particular major within the College of Visual and Performing Arts. All application materials must be received before an admissions decision is made; applicants who audition or submit a portfolio prior to all application materials being received will not learn of an admissions decision until their application materials are received. An applicant must be academically admissible to the university in order to be considered for admission to the College of Visual and Performing Arts. Applicants who are academically admissible to the university but do not have a successful audition or portfolio review may choose to enroll at Belmont in a major outside of the College of Visual and Performing Arts. An applicant who is academically inadmissible to the university cannot be considered for admission to the College of Visual and Performing Arts.

Additional Requirements for
Admission to the School of Music
Applicants to the School of Music who wish to major or minor in music are required to complete an audition. (Please note: Applicants to the Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business do not need to complete an audition unless they wish to minor in music.) Plans for an audition should be indicated on the School of Music Supplement. While taped auditions are accepted in certain circumstances, live auditions are strongly encouraged. Additional Requirements for
Admission to the Department of Art
Applicants to the Department of Art are required to submit a portfolio with 12-20 pieces of their best and most recent work. This portfolio can include examples of the various media in which the applicant works and should emphasize the applicant's artistic strengths. The portfolio must be mailed directly to the Department of Art and may be submitted as slides or digital images. DO NOT SUBMIT ORIGINAL PIECES. Additional Requirements for
Admission to the Department of Theatre and Dance
Applicants to the Department of Theatre and Dance who wish to pursue the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre and Drama are required to either complete an audition or submit a portfolio. (Applicants who wish to pursue the Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and Drama are not required to audition or submit a portfolio.) Auditions and portfolio reviews are arranged by appointment. Your application for admission must be submitted before you can request an audition or portfolio review. Applicants to the Honors Program
Applicants for freshman admission interested in the Honors program may go to www.belmont.edu/honors to learn more information about the program and its admission criteria. Applicants who wish to be considered for the Honors program should complete and submit the Honors questionnaire found online.
Applicants to the School of Nursing
All applicants to the School of Nursing must submit an official high school transcript and official test scores from either SAT or ACT.
