Hello, my name is Jim Poole. I have been an Assistant Director in the Admissions Office since July 2001.

Nashville is a town I proudly call home. My wife, Debby, and I have three adult children. Thus, we have been through the university search on three different occasions. My background is as a Pastor to Students in the local church. I am a graduate of Belmont with a degree in Psychology and Health and Physical Education. I earned a Master’s in Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas and a Master’s in Marriage and Family Counseling from the University of Mobile in Alabama. I transitioned into higher education after 20 + years in Student Ministry. Students have been a part of my “calling” for many years. I am glad you have chosen to take the time to include Belmont in your college search. This is a university that values individuals, one where you can develop the character God has placed in you, one where you will be challenged academically and personally.

The pictures you see characterize me very well. Basketball and baseball have been a large part of who I am for most of my life. Though I am an avid sports fan, these are my favorites here at Belmont. I attend a number of men’s and women’s basketball games each season. Fortunately, I have been the Chaplain on our baseball team for a few years. I enjoy being around the coaches and athletes. Another interest of mine is reading. Some of my favorite authors are: Jerry Bridges, Max Lucado, Frank Peretti, Brennan Manning, and William Paul Young. Though not pictured, I also like Classic Rock music.

See where I am traveling this fall!
