Susan Barnes
Susan Barnes joined the faculty in 2008 following a long professional career in public relations and journalism. She served as an adjunct instructor at the University of Tennessee for many years. She teaches public relations and mass media courses and is advisor to the student-run public relations firm, Tower Creative Consultants.
Barnes has worked for the past 15 years in university advancement at the University of Georgia, University of Tennessee, Middle Tennessee State University and Austin Peay State University. She was a partner in her own public relations firm and has worked extensively in community relations for U.S. Department of Energy contractors. She is an award-winning writer and holds degrees in journalism and communications from the University of Tennessee.
She is accredited in public relations by the Public Relations Society of America and became a Fellow of PRSA in 2006. She has served as a local chapter officer, Southeast District chair and on the Universal Accreditation Board.
