Dr. Montgomery Williams is an Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Belmont University College of Pharmacy and has been on faculty there since the fall of 2010. Dr. Williams’ specialty area is internal medicine with a focus in Antimicrobial Stewardship. She serves as the course coordinator for Pathophysiology and Therapeutics II where she teaches a portion of the Infectious Disease lectures and for Therapeutics Case Studies I. She also teaches an elective in Antimicrobial Stewardship for second and third year pharmacy students.

Dr. Williams has established an internal medicine practice site at Williamson Medical Center where she works in conjunction with the hospitalist physician group and serves as the pharmacy chair for the Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee.  Williamson Medical Center is a small, community hospital in Franklin, Tennessee. The Antimicrobial Stewardship Program at Williamson Medical Center was selected to be highlighted in the Pew Charitable Trust’s report “A Path to Better Antibiotic Stewardship in Inpatient Settings” as part of a case series with 9 other ASPs from around the country. Dr. Williams’ practice site serves as an Advance Pharmacy Practice Experience site in General Medicine for student pharmacists in their fourth year of course work. Dr. Williams has also been involved in the development of a post-graduate year one (PGY1) pharmacy residency program at Williamson Medical Center. She serves as the preceptor for the Internal Medicine, Antimicrobial Stewardship, and Internal Medicine-Precepting focused rotations for the PGY1 residents.

Dr. Williams is a graduate of the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy in Columbia, South Carolina.  Dr. Williams completed an ASHP-accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Mission Hospitals in Asheville, North Carolina and is Board Certified in Pharmacotherapy. She completed the Society of Infectious Disease Pharmacists’ Antimicrobial Stewardship Certificate Program in 2013.
