Assistant Professor, Pharmacy Practice
Pharm.D. (Pharmacy), University of Florida College of Pharmacy, Gainesville, FL
Dr. Alisa Spinelli joined the Belmont faculty in October 2012. She graduated with honors from the University of Florida’s College of Pharmacy. Following graduation, Dr. Spinelli completed a PGY-1 Ambulatory Care Residency and a teaching certificate program at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL. During her residency, she co-precepted students on Introductory and Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences, facilitated weekly patient case discussions for the pharmaceutical skills lab course, and facilitated practice experience institutes for the Working Professional Pharm.D. Program. Dr. Spinelli also worked as a community pharmacist at Wal-Mart Pharmacy and volunteered with the University of Florida Athletic Association during football season.
Dr. Spinelli’s practice focus is in ambulatory care, with a strong interest in indigent care. Her residency experience allowed her the opportunity to practice at an interdisciplinary family medicine clinic and was responsible for managing the practice’s pharmacist-run clinics (anticoagulation, diabetes, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia).
As Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice, Dr. Spinelli teaches Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience Seminars and Geriatrics, in addition to guest lecturing in other courses related to community and ambulatory care. Dr. Spinelli is establishing clinical pharmacy services at a local family medicine clinic. This practice will serve as an Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience site for student pharmacists in their fourth year of the pharmacy curriculum.
