Trip Details: We will be leaving Belmont on June 26th at around 1:00 PM and traveling up to Mammoth Cave National Park. Once we arrive, we will set-up our tents and get settled into our home for the weekend. Later that evening we will head to the Welcome Center to get ready for our first tour of Mammoth Cave. We will be taking the Star Chamber tour.
On this tour, we will be able to see the cave the way that Ralph Waldo Emerson saw it. This is a tour that we will take using lantern's so we can get the experience that explorers got over 150 years ago. We will take the same route that Dr. John Croghan took down to his "hospital" which was 160 feet underground.
Once we finish the tour we will head back to the campground for an evening of fellowship around the camp fire and everybody's favorite treat, Smores. On Saturday we take another tour but this one will be much different than the Star Chamber Tour. This tour will involve parts of the cave that are not seen everyday and is called Intro to Caving. If another cave tour is something that does not appeal to you, don't worry. We will also have a group that will canoe down the Green River!
Once again, we will spend the evening relaxing around the campsite and enjoying eachother's company before waking up on Sunday and making our way back to Belmont. We will arrive back at Belmont before Noon on June 28th.
