Pre-OT Fellows Program

Belmont University offers a fellowship program for undergraduates who attend Belmont University and are considering a career in Occupational Therapy.

The Pre-OT Fellows Program at Belmont offers incoming freshmen individualized pre-OT advising with the occupational therapy faculty, and, upon successful completion of the Pre-OT Fellows Program, guaranteed admission to Belmont's School of Occupational Therapy.

Pre-OT Fellows Program Requirements

To be considered for admission to this program, a student must have:

  • High school cumulative GPA and core GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Strong college preparatory curriculum, including 4 years of math and at least 3 years of science
  • ACT of 28 or higher, or SAT of 1260 or higher
  • Demonstration of an understanding of the field and commitment to Occupational Therapy as a career in application essays
  • Demonstrated interest in field of Occupational Therapy through volunteering, internships, etc. is strongly encouraged
  • All other factors for admission to Belmont
Benefits of the Pre-OT Fellowship
  • Guaranteed admission to the Doctorate of Occupational Therapy (OTD) program
  • Individualized advising by Pre-Health Professions Advisor and Occupational Therapy faculty member

Progression Requirements

  • Maintain 3.0 overall GPA and 3.0 GPA on all Occupational Therapty prerequisite courses
  • Meet once a semester with Occupational Therapy faculty member and Pre-Health Profressions Advisor 
  • Participate in a minimum of 50 hours of observation in a variety of clinical settings to include acute hospital, rehabilitation clinics, home health, nursing, and/or schools (minimum of two categories)
  • Complete an application for admission to the Doctorate of Occupational Therapy degree program (application fee is waived)
