Dr. McPhee is a Professor in the School of Occupational Therapy and has worked as an occupational therapy practitioner, manager and educator for nearly 30 years. He spent 21 years as an army occupational therapist retiring in 1994 at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. His area of practice expertise is orthopedics and research methods. In addition to serving as the inaugural Chair for Belmont University's School of Occupational Therapy, he also has served as the Occupational Therapy Chair at College Misericordia (Dallas, PA) and the Academy of Health Sciences (San Antonio, TX).
Dr. McPhee has extensive experience at the national level and has served on the American Occupational Therapy Association's Commission on Practice (2 terms), Commission on Education's Program Director's Council, Accreditation Council's Roster of Accreditation Evaluators, and several other ad hoc committees. He also serves as the Chair of the Occupational Therapy Standards Committee for the International Commission on Health Practices. He has written over 20 journal articles and book chapters. Dr. McPhee teaches courses in Kinesiology, Biomechanical and Musculoskeletal Interventions, Conceptual Foundations, and Research. His concentrated interest in research currently includes cumulative trauma in health care providers and defining wellness in our oldest adult population.
