Grant Search to Fund an Accessible Fishing Pier
The purpose of this residency project was to advocate for individuals who have difficulty accessing the waterfront to participate in the leisure activity of fishing in a region where accessibility for outdoor activities has not been adequately addressed. Two grants totaling $8,500 were secured to fund an accessible fishing pier on a small lake at Kimball Park and Recreation in Kimball, Tennessee. The grants included the South Pittsburg Rotary Club Simplified Grant ($5,000) and Sequatchie Valley Electric Cooperative, SVECares Grant ($3,500). The TWRA provided the blueprints for construction using revised ADA guidelines. Projected construction is slated for June or July 2013 with completion in August 2013.
