APPEALS
How the process works.
No citation older than four weeks may be appealed and you must have your copy of the ticket. The person with the traffic violation cannot be represented by an attorney or use witnesses to state his/her case.
First parking ticket: Either pay in Belmont Central or follow procedure below:
- Ticket will be reduced to a warning by taking a test regarding the understanding of Belmont's traffic rules and regulations. ( Click on http://belmont.edu/ocs/parking-rules_and_regulations/index.html and refer to the box on the right of the screen). A hard copy of the completed test must be submitted to the Administrative Major so it can be graded and the results returned. This must be done within four weeks (28 Days) from the date of the ticket.
- This process is not available if ticketed for parking in a handicapped space, parking in fire lane, or parking in guest spot. (See Second appeal below.)
Second parking ticket: Either pay in Belmont Central or file appeal below:
- You must send a written appeal to the Office of Campus Security. The form is on the Campus Security site at http://belmont.edu/ocs/parking-rules_and_regulations/index.html.
- The appeal will be reviewed by the Student Justices associated with Judicial Services.
- Ruling will be returned to Office of Campus Security and you will be notified of decision. If you disagree with this ruling, you may appear before the justices to state your case directly. This must be coordinated with the Administrative Major and Student Affairs.
- Submit written appeal in person at the security Communications Center in the Gabhart Student Center for this appeal, listing your name, BUID number, and the number on the parking citation.
Third parking ticket: Either pay in Belmont Central or file appeal below:
- You must send a written appeal to the Office of Campus Security. The form is on the Campus Security site at http://belmont.edu/ocs/parking-rules_and_regulations/index.html.
- The appeal will be reviewed by the process listed above.
- Ruling will be returned to Office of Campus Security and you will be notified of decision.
- If you disagree with this ruling, you may appear before the justices to state your case directly. This must be coordinated with the Administrative Major.
- Submit written appeal in person at the security communications center in the Gabhart Student Center for this appeal, listing your name, BUID number and the number on the parking citation.
Note: Your account will be billed for the parking ticket at the time it is issued. If the appeals process warrants a refund, a credit will be issued to your account.
