School of Nursing Scholarship Information
Application Eligibility Requirements:
- School of Nursing students who are currently enrolled for a minimum of 12 hours per semester.
- Scholarship applicants must be enrolled in nursing courses.
Application Procedures:
- School of Nursing students will fill out a School of Nursing Undergraduate Scholarship Application form
- An essay is required, indicating which scholarship(s) to which you are applying and how a scholarship award would benefit you financially.
Award Process:
- Applications will be reviewed by the Scholarship Committee and ranked according to the following criteria: GPA, class ranking/status, and community and university involvement.
- Applicants who have been awarded a scholarship will receive written notification by mail.
Deadline:
- February 15th
- Return applications to the School of Nursing Admissions office in the Inman Center.
- Late applications will not be considered.
Selection Process:
- Applicant evaluation is based on three criteria: GPA, status, and involvement.
Award Amounts:
- Award amounts range from $500 to $2,000.
Special Awards:
Should additional scholarship opportunities arise during an academic year, applications on file for the departmental scholarship process will be considered and evaluated based on criteria set by the donating party.
Belmont University offers a variety of scholarships to incoming freshmen. No separate scholarship application is required. For addtional information about scholarships and financial aid, please refer to the Student Financial Services website.
School of Nursing Scholarships:
Glen Anderson Endowed Scholarship
This fund was established in 1980 in memory of Mr. and Mrs. Max Andersons' son, Glen. The student must be recommended by a former teacher or educational advisor, that their high school grades (if receiving this as a Freshman) must be a minimum of C+ and all entrance requirements of the School of Nursing must be met.
Lois H. Cobb Endowed Scholarship
Founded in 1980 by Dr Cully and Lois Cobb. This Endowed Scholarship is for the express purpose of funding those nursing students who are in great financial need who are over the age of 35, with the first preference of the donor that the awardee is female.
Bernice Johnson Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to nursing majors
Pat R. and Clarence L. Steinhouse Endowed Scholarship
Given by our generous donor Pat Steinhouse and initially funded in 1984. Awarded to nursing majors.
Lt. Col Harvey Jeans Endowed Scholarship
Founded in 2003, this scholarship is made possible by Gaye Thomas. Recipients should be male or female health sciences students in good standing recipients should schedule and attend an informational session with a recruiting officer of any of the U.S. Armed Forces for sincere consideration of military service.
