School of Nursing Scholarships

Glen Anderson Endowed Scholarship
This fund was established in 1980 in memory of Mr. and Mrs. Max Anderson’s son, Glen. The applicant must be recommended by a former teacher and/or religious or educational advisor, demonstrate financial need, have maintained a minimum GPA of C+ in high school and met all entrance requirements for the School of Nursing.  An applicant must also possess good moral character and should be a professing Christian who is active in his/her church.
 
Lois H. Cobb Endowed Scholarship
Founded in 1980 by Dr. Cully and Lois Cobb, this scholarship was created for the express purpose of providing funds to those nursing students who are in great financial need.  Preference is given to female students over the age of 35.

Joe C. Davis Endowed Nursing Scholarship
Awarded to School of Nursing students who maintain a 3.0 GPA.  This scholarship is renewable for four years.

Lt. Col Harvey Jeans Endowed Scholarship
Founded in 2003, this scholarship is made possible by Gaye Thomas. Recipients must be majoring in one of the disciplines within the College of Health Sciences & Nursing.   Recipients should schedule and attend an informational session with a recruiting officer of any of the U.S. Armed Forces in sincere consideration of military service.

Bernice Johnson Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to School of Nursing students.
 
Partners in Nursing Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to School of Nursing students from our partnership schools:  Freewill Baptist Bible College, Nashville State Community College and Volunteer State Community College.

Pat R. and Clarence L. Steinhouse Endowed Scholarship
Founded in 1984, this scholarship is made possible by Pat Steinhouse.  It is awarded to School of Nursing students.

Leon and Jeanette Travis Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to School of Nursing students.


University Awards

Belmont University offers a variety of scholarships to incoming freshmen. No separate scholarship application is required to be considered for university scholarships. For additional information about scholarships and financial aid, please refer to the Student Financial Services Website.


Applying for Scholarships

Eligibility
Individuals admitted to the School of Nursing are eligible for scholarship consideration. Candidates must meet the specific criteria of a scholarship to be considered.

Application
The application for admission serves as the scholarship application for newly admitted students who have not yet attended Belmont. No additional application is necessary. Early application is recommended for best consideration.

Current Belmont nursing students must complete a School of Nursing Scholarship Application (available soon) by March 1st to be considered for scholarship awards for the next academic year.

Award Process
The following criteria informs the award process: GPA, class ranking/status, and community/university involvement. Award amounts typically range from $500 to $3000. Current Belmont students who submit an application after March 1 will not be considered.
