Jessica Blagys

Dr. Blagys joined Belmont as a full time embedded clinical faculty member in Fall 2017. She teaches Adult Health Nursing clinical courses on the palliative care unit at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Providing patients and families with as much comfort and compassion at the end of their lives and teaching students to do the same is a great honor. Teaching clinicals allows her to merge two passions, education and bedside patient care.

Dr. Blagys graduated from Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut with her BSN in 2009. Prior to obtaining her BSN she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology also from Quinnipiac. In August 2017 Dr. Blagys earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Western Kentucky University with a Family Nurse Practitioner concentration and is a nationally certified Family Nurse Practitioner. Her doctoral research was on the effects of a yoga program on anxiety and self-efficacy on adults with drug and alcohol dependence.

Since relocating to Nashville in 2011 Dr. Blagys has practiced as a RN in the emergency department at Skyline Medical Center, the post-anesthesia care unit at Centennial Women and Children’s, and the cardiovascular ICU at Vanderbilt.

Dr. Blagys is a registered yoga teacher and teaches regularly for the Nashville non-profit Small World Yoga. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her animals, traveling, reading, gardening and running.
